Ideas for Landscaping

Arrrghh.. so much to do.. So little time..

Our housing area landscape is superbly design, breathtakingly beautiful *cheeewah* jgn marah kecam ya..
But it's true, it does put a slight pressure on my shoulders to have some greenery within the house compound.
With such limited budget, I hope we could pull it off.

So, I based on the spots I highlighted below, I will to find suitable pots and plants to fill up the empty spaces.Wish me luck ok!

This is the backyard. Plenty of space to plant some flower pots maybe.

Maybe some seating which could also be nice

Ooops patchy grass.. need to fix that.

Greenery at the courtyard.. Absolutely!

Ni nak sapu daun ke nak main tiup2 bunga kapas nih? hukhuk.. Kakak2....

Sancora DUE 3D Paint Malaysian Mommy Review

Why Malaysian mommy review? Becaaaause, I am a Malaysian Mommy and I paint.. heck yeah!!

If you guys read about my trip to one of my trips to Home Expo, I had purchase a whole bunch of Sancora's paint (10 units of 5L paint)... I know!!!! I am guilty of over shop once again!! *cry in the inside*  Now, I never heard about San Cora, but I thought let's give them a bit of a doubt. The branding looks convincing and trust worthy. So, this entry is especially made for those who are looking for paint or 3D paint or San Cora paint reviews. Keep in mind, in previous homes I've tried both Jotun and Nippon which both are actually quality brands.

I had envisioned my formal living to be all blue and luxurious. The feature wall will be painted using the Sancora DUE 3D paint. Mr. Bob pop's the paint bucket open and voila, no scent. I know certain paint's smell could be slightly nauseated.. but not this one.

Popping the lid!

This is the 110 LB Pearl White

Don't be deceived, it may looked like Mr. Bob is doing all the work.. but no, three quarter of the job was totally mine. The problem is, I am not as detailed as Mr. Bob. So, he likes to touch up my handy work. Another problem that I have is that after the forth step I will feel slightly imbalanced, so I couldn't paint the top part of ANY WALL. Bhahahaha!

The paint color is rich, there was no smell and the texture is really smooth. I will only take me under one hour to double coat a wall. Yes, I am that good. :p

Tis all my work man!
Next we pop up the 3D textural paint. Voila!! No smell either. So, I diligently start painting in X format throughout the whole wall. Man it was though. I won't lie to you. My arms started to melt bit by bit. Hahaha. But after finishing the whole wall, it looks freaking horrible!

Gooey goodness..

Wrong technique here
If you look at the photo below, the top part was my first attempt of covering the wall. I did a second attempt to redeem myself, thus the lower part of the wall was a touch up. Naaaah... Couldn't share the look of the room now, will share with you guys when everything is done ok.

6 times of painting the same wall

The reveal is sooner than you think!!

Kakak's First MSSS Competition!

If you ladies know Farissa, you will know she is leaning to academics. She's doing absolutely well in her studies and to balance it out, we support her passion in swimming as well. As Mr. Bob and myself are very 'inactive' haha! we want her to be fit and healthy, which just bring me to the point that swimming is a great cardio exercise. :)

Well, recently she participated in her first MSSS Competition. She didn't win (even coming up last) but both Mr. Bob and I felt that she should get rewarded for her efforts and determination. She was very concern for the referee that waiting for her at the end of her lane. She said that the lady had to wait for a long time for her to finish. Heeeeee.

Straight after, Mr. Bob treat her to a nice lunch and motivate her to do better next time. Insyallah. What ever it is, we are very proud of you kakak!! You can definitely do better next time ya.. Mama and papa are always behind you.

On your mark, get set, Go!!

Reaching at the end

Trying her best

Last to win.. But try again next time!!

Upholstery Journey for my Sofa

Quite an extensive journey for me and Mr. Bob.. It all started when we bought the new house... We brainstorm on the items to let go and to keep. Our sofa end up in our keep pile. :) Although the sofa is 7 years of age, the condition is very much like new. Yeah, there is a stain of two but I have two kids, it's expected.

At first, we thought of adding another sofa, something like an eight foot chesterfield. But our budget plus the space just couldn't allow for one. Anyway, a new sofa would cost us about RM3000 and so we made an executive decision just to reuse and reupholstered our old sofa. Now this would be a whole new ball game.

I never knew that even reupholstering your sofa could cost thousands. I was hit with the fact that if you have like a fitted sofa, it will cost more. Now, after googling, here are the 3 contenders based on reviews, portfolio and location (which is around klang valley area)..

Brother Lim Upholstery/Cushions

Check out their website here and FB here.
Final product looks great.
Price is on the higher side.

Dthukang Upholstery

Check out their contact here.
Final product also looks good.
Price is on the mid range to high side.

SZ Upholstery Enterprise

Check out their portfolio here.
Final product looks ok.
Price is the most affordable one compare to the other two above.
Plus, I've been to the physical workshop and did some fabrics hunting (which was ok but not a lot of choice).

Now, I'm sure you would like to know who did I go to and how much did I pay for the service.
Well, I definitely leaning towards the most affordable price as my budget was quite limited.
So, SZ Upholstery it is!!
I dealt with Ms. Hasmi and you may contact him @ this no. 010-7837565, and I will of course update all of you guys when my sofa arrives!! Hehe..

My 3+2 sofa cost RM1750 to redo and Farissa's bed cost RM400 to redo. Hope this helps!

Sofa pick up!!

Say goodbye sofa Ruzain... Bye2!

Soft Furnishing and Spotlight Mines

Today is quite a special day as I plan to share with you guys on where you could shop for your soft furnishing in Selangor. :) If you are a huge fan of HGTV and FYI channels, you would surely wonder on where you could get all those yummilicious cushion covers and one of a kind design. Yeah you could definitely visit Nilai 3 for the best price, but I highly doubt you could find unique looking pillow cover design *Nilai 3 fans please don't get offended by this ya*..

On certain occasions that you would want to do a bit a splurging, why not visit Spotlight? Aside for it being famous for crafting tools, you could definitely find fabrics that your heart desires. Another thing that I like while shopping in Spotlight is that the sales assistant is highly approachable and they will assist you looking for that one special fabric.

Before you go, just make sure that you bring a something to relay your design concept. In my case, I will bring my room inspiration color scheme and the photos of furnitures that I had purchased much earlier. Then, I will walk around and try to see which fabric matches best. Remember, putting everything in your brain isn't always the best ideas. One of the fabrics I chose was a curtain fabric with eyelet, so I guess, the tailor could cut it out later. ;)

Another tip that you I could share with you is that, try and see which roll of fabric is much use to see if the design is actually likable. Go to the new fabric addition and don't be afraid to grab a couple and spread it out on the table. Only then, you will be able to see the full view of the colours, texture and pattern.

Grabbing some greys
Oh yes, you could find cheap cut out fabrics in the clearance bucket *not sure its a bucket but there is stack full of cut out wrap fabric* for a bargain price. I got my solid grey piece in that pile and it cost only a fraction than of those in the rolls.

Blue pattern fabric.. Kinda like a tribal design..

Black stripes *which in the end I did not buy* for fear there is too much pattern design!!

A little potential ID right next to me.. choosing fabrics along side her mom..

What the heck, since you are there.. Just grab a few of the special priced items.. I know I did..
Now, the last part is finding someone to sew your covers. If you have a personal tailor like I do, give them a call and ask for the price of sewing one. Mine was like RM10 for each *SCORE!*.. Spotlight also offers this service but theirs will cost you for about RM19 each. See, half the price. So, make your choice.

This old cushion covers are 7 years in age!

How I tagged each fabric and the sample cover for easy access by my tailor

This and this.. that and that

Stack them up and off they went.. Will update the final output... stay tune ya!
